How To Avoid Being A Victim Of The Worst Scam Of All
by Charles Goldie
Scams have been around on the internet for years now and there nothing new to them. The biggest one of all is getting information off people when its wasn’t necessary in the first place like your credit card.
Phishing
Phishing in my mind has to be the worst scam of all. You might not have heard of it before that is whey im writing this artilce because I didn’t even know it existed.
Phishing is a form of identity theft on the internet today. People will send you emails and direct you to sites which are fraudulent.
When they get you on the site they asked for your personal details like what is your credit card number? Social Security number and other personal information that you shouldn’t be giving to anyone.
Emails
You might get emails though to your email address that looks like a bank or even papal that warns you about your account and to click on the link to give more details.
Or they will ask you to fill out a form to confirm your email address or your home address ect. They might even ask to fill out your credit card details so it can be checked.
Scam Artists
These scam artists will make the email look so real and genuine that you can’t tell the difference.
The only way to find out about anything that comes from a financial institution you belong to is to go and login to your account and write to customer services or call and ask them whether it’s a genuine email from them.
Links In Emails
When you get an email and has a link on it the you recognize so you think that its ok to click it because it’s an email that you get all the time from someone watch out because these scammers install scripts that make the email look exactly as you have seen it before but as soon as you click on the link it will re-direct you to the scammers site where you will be asked to fill in your details or passwords and user names. These scammers will replicate entire websites that are well known to all of us to get you to go to their sites.
Key Loggers
Watch out for key loggers because sometimes these will be in your emails as attachments.
If you open the one of these attachments the key log will take over and read every key that your typing. Its an auto install script and these scammers will send them to you though your emails.
So never open an email attachment only if you know where its come from like a family member or someone like that but apart from the forget about it.
Browser Hijacking
Phishers may also hack into your ISP and browser and take over them without you ever even knowing about it. You might experience your internet connection going down more times than usual.
Be aware of this happening because you could be sharing your internet connection and your browser with someone across the world who will know your every move.
They will find out what you like doing over the internet what sites you go to to buy things ect. Then they will make duplicates of those sites and get you to buy from them instead of the genuine website that you always go to.
Summary; People get scammed everyday on the internet and one day I hope we can stop it. But for now read the above and takes the steps necessary to at least try to stop it happening to you.
