The GM Quel was released under the Advance of Zeta banner as opposed to the 0083 banner mainly due to the popularity of Advance of Zeta at the time. This kit was built of the body of the Gundam Hazel kits, sort of the opposite of how it worked in the story! As a result, this kit’s very nice and poseable and sturdy.

As much as I love the GM Quel, and enjoy the poseability of this kit, there’s one thing I have to address first-I cannot STAND the look of this kit. You see, because this kit was based on the Hazel mold, it’s in the Advance of Zeta artstyle, as opposed to the 0083 style, which I annoys the crap out of me. This s characterized by the really fat lower legs and the comparably tiny head. Thankfully, Bandai’s B-Club released a resin upgrade kit that puts it in the 0083 style, but I can’t see myself blowing $50 on legs and a head…

Pet peeves about the design aside, let’s go into the breakdown…

Despite the grievance about the size of the head, it’s pretty nicely-detailed, including a clear plastic visor. What I like to do with visors is paint the back of them silver, so it makes the color “pop” more when you’re looking at the kit head-on.

The torso and waist are your basic construction, and yes, you have to split the skirt armor, but there’s one really nice detail about the AoZ kits-they’re modular! So, you can swap backpacks and gear and all sorts of stuff between them, and even the backpack from the Gundam Mk. II can be thrown on. Kitbashing is fun!

The arms on these kits are very nice too, because they come with that one thing I’m always clamoring for-double joints! This hinge system allows for a really nice range of movement, and it looks pretty neat and robotic.

The hands, however, are really odd. Instead of your standard right trigger hand, right fist, and left fist, you get left AND right trigger fingers, a semi-open left palm, and a right “saber hand”-no fists. The left trigger finger combined with the shield mount are neat because they allow you to make a “lefty” GM Quel like that classic GM from the original series episode, but it seems silly with the beam saber still being mounted on the other side.

The legs and feet are sort of a disappointment after the arms, and I’ve already mentioned how ugly I think the legs are. No special joints here, just a typical 90 degree knee movement with ball-jointed feet, and no neat double-joint like the Mk. II had.

Weapons include the “GM Rifle” that a lot of suits from that era had, the 0080-style shield, and a beam saber. This kit included two beam saber blades, even though it had just one saber. I guess you can give the other one to some other kit that needed it…

In the end, if you can get past the ugly legs and accept it for the civilian-oppressing Titans GM that it is, it’s a nice kit. I would like for them to use the parts to make a GM Custom kit, however. Also included with the kit are a very nice array of stickers, including numbers, “Titans” and “Titans Test Team” logos to help personalize yours. The modular parts shared between this, the Hazels, the Mk. II, and the Gaplant Hrairoo allow for some very cool custom possibilities, and I say let your imagination run wild.

I was breaking up with a girlfriend a while back and she stabbed me with a harsh criticism. I wasn’t assertive enough for her. I tend to be pretty laid back about things and while I saw her point, I also saw how she emasculated me in her own head. I was new to the city and didn’t know where to go or what to do, so she often chose what we did together. She told me she wanted me to be bolder about choosing where we went. The interesting thing was that I often did that and conveniently those were all the nights she chose to pass and spend the evening on the couch. Those were the nights I wish I had decided to go anyway and leave her sitting on the couch by herself.

When is it okay for a man to be a man? When is a woman too assertive? The final verdict is going to be different for everyone. Men need to embrace the strong confident energy that is masculinity. This includes being sexually forward and assertive. A strong confident woman wants nothing more than to have an assertive man in the bedroom. Men love when an empowered woman enjoys sex and is assertive in the bedroom, but as soon as that assertiveness leaves the bedroom men are often intimidated by it.

Men are much simpler than you realize ladies. We know you pull all the strings, but if you let us think we are in charge more often we both get what we want. We feel more dominant and you get to see us confident and assertive. I know if you tell us to be strong and assertive it defeats the point, however setting up situations where have to be more assertive is key. Let us kill the bug in the house; let us be in charge of the cars and fixing mechanical objects. Even if you know it will be faster just to call someone, let us have our moment. Tell us we are in charge of planning the evening on Friday. Set up situations where we can be assertive instead of jumping in and doing it yourself. Give use the opportunity to be assertive and you will be happier when we are.

Guys, let’s step it up a notch. A cardinal sin is if she asks, “what do you want to do?” and you answer, “I don’t know.” Be a man, have a plan, in fact have back up plans. You need to take the lead. She’ll tell you when the plan sucks or needs to be changed, but if you at least have a plan, then you are being a man! Here is another tip. When she cancels on an idea and wants to just stay home, go do it anyway without her.

Assertiveness and confidence is so incredibly attractive as long as it doesn’t threaten someone else’s sense of self-confidence. You as an empowered woman in a relationship should not come at the price of an emasculated man. Leave room for a man to be confident. Set him up to feel like he is in charge sometimes, we both know who is really in charge. Guys, time to sack up and stand up for what you want to do. Stand your ground when women try to change things about you that you enjoy or things that don’t even affect her. The easiest way to be dominant without crossing her boundaries is to be assertive about what you want, but not tell her what she should want or do.

Being a confident man or woman is not about always being dominant or getting what you want. It is about knowing who you are and not compromising on the important stuff. Most of us understand when it’s important; the little things are what cause so much drama. Compromise by letting others win on the little stuff so you can be assertive on what is important to you. The most confident leaders know when to let others lead and empower them to feel strong and confident. As a confident woman, let men win sometimes, our ego’s are much more fragile. As a man, learn that being confident and dominant is actually what women appreciate more.

But some of life’s goals are much, much bigger than the ones you can use your instantaneous determination to achieve. They are bigger and longer than that. Some goals are going to take you weeks, or months, or years to attain.

And the longer the duration of the goal, the more difficult it is going to be for you to use your willpower to achieve it.

You need to take a different approach. Often times this approach can be more difficult for the person with a driven personality than the “hammer and tongs” approach. This approach requires some planning, and persistence, but mostly it requires an understanding and acceptance that the best (and easiest) way to achieve this outcome, is to take smaller, bite-sized steps.

You know, most people (including me and you) fail to achieve a goal because we burn ourselves out with our own enthusiasm. We are so keen to “make it happen”, that we over drive our bodies, and even though our minds keep saying - go, go ,go, our bodies (including our nervous systems are not up to the challenge.

This is where the planning, and understanding of the journey you are about to undertake is of so much importance.

Take this example: If you had to walk from the most westerly city in your country, to the most easterly city, would you think that it would be a good idea to start sprinting from the moment you start the journey?

Of course not. You have enough knowledge and understanding to know that you may have a journey of weeks, or in some cases many months of “pounding the pavement”. It would not make any sense to start running as fast as you can from your very first step, as you know you would find yourself burnt out and exhausted. For most of us, that would occur only 5 minutes into the journey.

So, what would be the best way to begin?

You would probably start by walking. Maybe at a brisk pace. But after a fairly short time, you would begin to understand how far you have to go, and how fit (or unfit) you really are. You would then change your speed to ensure you could continue to walk at an efficient and effective pace, to ensure you can go the distance in the shortest possible time.

If you can take that idea, and use it in other areas of your life, you will undoubtedly get further, faster, in many areas of your life than you would have by just starting to run as fast and as hard as you can towards your goal.

I know I’ve talked about him before, but Adam Khoo has had log term success in many areas of his life. He is one of the people who can articulate the methods he has used to get to where he is.

Remember in an earlier email we talked about modeling. Adam Khoo is one of the guys you should try to model if you are looking for the same type of success he enjoys.

OK, so back to what this article is about. The 1 Percenters!

1 Percenters stands for doing those things, every day, so that gradually, and with total control, you achieve the outcome you desire.

If you decide that something worth doing is going to take 100 days. All you have to do each day is something that represents 1 principle to different areas of your life, you will find that, over time, these areas begin to improve. Each day, or each week, you will be able to see the improvement.

And because the steps you are taking each day are not huge, massive and scary, you will be able to achieve your goal and feel the success. You will even have little successes along the way each day to help you stay the course.

So, if we are talking exercise, start with 10 or 15 minute sessions. Don’t just go out there on the first day and try to run 10 miles.

If it is a product you are developing, or some knowledge you are studying, start by doing something daily to get there. You don’t decide to send your kids to school 7 days a week for 12 hours a day so that they can graduate high school by the time they are 12. So it is that in many cases in other areas of life it is better to get yourself to take smaller steps more often until you reach your goals.

Now, I’m just going to say one more thing on this, and that is -YOU MUST DO SOMETHING TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL. None of what I have written here today will do you any good unless you take action and move towards your goals.

I apologize for yelling, it’s just that sometimes capital letters really help get the point across.

The company’s first offerings were a 60cc two-stroke, and a150cc and 250cc four-stroke respectively, which were developed using German technology. Kawasaki and BMW had enjoyed a close relationship that stemmed from their days as aircraft builders. Meihatsu, a subsidiary of the Kawasaki Aircraft Company, gave its name to the first complete motorbike produced by the company. Around this time, an unsuccessful attempt was made to break into the scooter sector; the Fuji Rabbit and the Mitsubishi Silver Penguin proving too strong an opposition.

In 1960, the company signed a deal with the oldest motorcycle company in Japan, Meguro Motorcycles, whose fortunes had declined since being a major motorcycle manufacturer from their birth in 1937. Having once been regarded as ‘the senior make and king of four-strokes’, Meguro turned away from their British influence with disastrous results. By 1962, their name had disappeared.

Having initially produced low powered machines, Kawasaki, using the knowledge acquired from Meguro, turned their attention towards bigger bikes, and in 1966 produced the W1, a 650cc machine that was heavier and slower than its rivals, so enjoyed limited success. Lighter versions were developed in the shape of the 250cc Samurai and the 350cc A7 Avenger, but again, these machines didn’t capture the imagination of the public.

By 1969, Kawasaki were beginning to get things right, and the introduction of the 500cc H1 kick-started the company’s reputation of quality, high performance machines. Smaller versions were released; the 250cc and 350cc S1’s. A 748cc H2 became available in 1972 and stayed in production until the mid 70’s, when emission laws drew a curtain on the project.

The introduction of the Z1 in 1973, proved a milestone for Kawasaki. At first intended to have a 750cc power unit, the company eventually settled on a 903cc engine, after they had seen Honda reveal their CB750. The Z1, having great performance and a good price, became an instant success and soon became the Z900, with the Z1000 following hot on its heels.

In 1984, the introduction of the GPz900r caused quite a stir. This was in line with the company’s development of liquid cooled, DOHC, 16 valve, four cylinder engines. This power unit combined with a light, compact chassis would carry you across the first 400 metres of your journey in just over ten and a half seconds. It had a top speed of 250km/h and took the title of ‘The World’s Fastest Bike’. It was also named ‘Bike of the Year’ in 1984.

1984 also saw the introduction of Kawasaki’s first Cruiser, the Vulcan 750, whilst the 900cc Eliminator came along a year later, using the engine from the GPz900r. The CS250 (Casual Sports) appeared in the same year, featuring a liquid cooled, DOHC, single cylinder motor.

During the90’s, Japanese motorcycle manufacturers were in serious competition in the Superbike sector, and Kawasaki’s contribution was the 1052cc, ZZR-1100, a motorcycle that was to remain the fastest production bike for the next five years. Its power, combined with a strong frame and good suspension, made it a popular touring machine. In 2002, it was replaced by the ZZR-1200, which offered better handling. A ZZR-600 also entered the fray.

2002 saw the Ninja ZX-12R arrive with an aluminium, monocoque frame, and a 16 valve in line, four cylinder engine.

In 2003, the 638cc, ZX-6R replaced the 1995 version. This completely redesigned machine was all that a fast bike should be; quick and aggressive. The Z1000 appeared as a street bike in this same year. It seemed that Kawasaki was top of the tree.

Their motorcycle history has been relatively short, but Kawasaki have achieved more in that time than some manufacturers have done in a hundred years. It’s no surprise then, that owners stay loyal to the company and the product, as we all wait eagerly for the next exciting development o come along and blow our minds.

Even after terrorist attacks in western countries, leaders are looking the other way when it comes to Islamic Fascism. This is true in the European Union as well as the United States. The recent election of US President Barack Obama, who was recently photographed bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia, indicates that Americans are willing to forgive and forget the terrorist attacks that killed thousands of civilians on September 11, 2001. Any reference to Islamo-Fascism in the United States is seen as being extreme by the media.

Fascism is the ideology that Hitler used to rule Germany. It obliterates human rights, different ideas and calls for total allegiance to the leader. Adolph Hitler, who was elected into power, orchestrated the death of six million people who did not fit in with his ideology and started a war that cost millions of lives. Islamo-Fascism is the intolerance of anyone who is not of the Islamic faith. We see this in many Islamic countries where even practicing another faith can be cause for imprisonment or even death. In Islamic Fascism countries, human rights are virtually non-existent, especially for those of another faith other than Islam, women and dissidents. The human rights abuses that go on in countries like Saudi Arabia, for example, are largely ignored by the western media.

Islamo-Fascism is frightening for many people who are non-Muslim. Attacks against westerners are on the rise and largely left unchecked. Very similar to how Hitler was allowed to run unchecked by the rest of the world until he started trying to take over. Islamic Fascism, however, is scarier to most than the fascism practiced by the Nazis. This is because unlike the Nazis, the Islamo-Fascism movement is spreading to all parts of the world and not just concentrated in one country, and those who practice Islamic-Fascism are actually willing to die for their cause.

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and second only to Christianity when it comes to religion. Four Reasons for a Four-Year Education

Money. The first reason that you should consider a university degree is the fact that it will substantially increase your earning potential. If nothing else appeals to you, this is typically the one reason that most people return to school after years in the work place. If you are in high school and haven’t really had to deal with the bills and burdens that many adults face it’s difficult to explain how important any edge when it comes to earning ability truly is. However, you should be aware that you need to choose your major wisely if money is your sole motivation. Not all careers pay equally when compare to the education required to enter them.

Insurance. This may seem like a strange term to use when discussing why you should get a university education but this is perhaps the best insurance you can find as far as employability goes. Having a university degree gives you a competitive edge over those who do not. In many cases you will find that education is beginning to trump experience as employers are seeking workers with more rounded skills rather than those with very specific skills. The modern university typically requires a brief exposure to all kinds of information and coursework that isn’t necessarily related to your major. This provides graduates with a broader understanding of the world (at least that is the assumption).

Employability. Believe it or not, those with degrees are much more employable than those that do not have them. There was a time when the trend was to employ those who had experience over those who had education. That trend is rapidly evaporating as companies want employees that can fill multiple roles more and more often. The limited exposure to certain ideas or ideals and principles that most people receive as part of their university education makes you a more employable candidate because you should be able to adapt and adjust, as this was required during your educational process.

Confidence. There is nothing quite like believing in yourself. Getting a four-year education is one way to build confidence not only on a personal level but also on a professional level. Whether or not you realize it, this is often the best reason for pursuing a university degree. This reason, as a matter of fact, will actually affect all of the other things I mentioned above. If you have more confidence in your ability you will be more willing to go out there and get the job done. As a result, you will earn more money and you will insure that you are an asset to your company by proving yourself to be just that.

Still, the decision to file for a tax extension should not be done lightly, and certainly not done in ignorance. If you think filing an extension gives you six more months to get your tax payment together, you’re wrong. In fact, you have to make some tough choices here, and do at least a little arithmetic (no calculus!) to make it work to your advantage. That said, it might still be true that filing a tax extension is the best choice for you.

The right motivation

If you have until October 15th rather than April 15th that gives you time to ensure that you are getting every possible deduction for which you are eligible. In tough times, as we’ve noted, every cent counts. You simply must make sure that you are filing the tax return that is most advantageous to you, not to the government. Whatever you want to do for your country, paying more taxes than you owe is not an efficient way to do it. Take the time to do it right.

Now, mark those words, as they are key. You are filing an extension so you have time to get your return right, not to take a vacation or push the tax forms under the desk. If you do not have the right motivation, you should not file for an extension. In other words, if it’s all the same, return-wise, and you’re filing a 1040EZ anyway, there is no reason not to do it now.

The bottom line

Remember, whether you file a Form 4868 (Request for Extension) or not, any tax due you expect to owe is still due on April 15th (and it’s March 15th for businesses). Now, here’s where some math comes into it, in case you were planning, as many people do, to borrow money to make your tax payment. It may just be that the IRS late-payment fees and/or interest penalties work out to be less than the interest you’d pay on that loan. It may be less than interest you are paying on other debt, too. So, by filing for an extension, you won’t have to pay interest on that tax liability for another six months, and it may be negligible in comparison to the important uses you might have for the funds in the meantime.

And don’t forget that the President and the Congress are already (make that, always) tweaking the tax code. Although few things will likely change in the short term, there is little harm (all things being equal) in waiting to take advantage of any new deductions, credits or incentives. Waiting will hurt you very little, and it could help you quite a bit, actually.

Life calls, too

It may be that you have a lot going on right now, too, and would have to hurry to file, with all the possible problems that haste could introduce into the equation. If you are in a tizzy over filing, or don’t have all your paperwork together to do it right, then getting some extra time to do the return calmly and correctly can make good sense in more than just economic ways.

Maybe you’ve lost a job, had a death in the family, incurred a lot of medical expenses or had some other “life changing” occurrence. It may well be that you need time to file a kind of return you’ve never filed before, which means new kinds of research on your part, or getting help filing when you’ve always done it yourself before. If your tax status is in flux, or you are one of the many small business owners who has had to downsize or (heaven forbid) go out of business, then you are facing some real complications-and your tax return is only a part of the problem. Put things in order and get extra time where you can. Filing for an extension is available for you to do because even tax collectors know what can happen in people’s lives. Don’t forget, the IRS has humans working there, too.

Making the decision

If things are looking tough right now, make things easier for yourself where you can. As long as you are able to pay the amount you will expect to owe when you do file later, you are in good shape. If you have a problem getting an exact figure, then err on the side of safety and “round up” instead of down. And if you are confused and perplexed, by all means get some professional help if the amount involved is in any range that you consider “serious money.” Frankly, for some people that means any amount, whereas in a higher tax bracket you will need to decide if hassling over a few hundred dollars is worth it.

The fact is, you can’t lose much by filing for an extension, and if you are honest with your filing and your figures, you will once again prove that it is the best policy. Actually, when dealing with the IRS, honesty should be the only policy! So if you are honestly at wit’s end about filing this year, give yourself a break and take the extra time to do it with calmness, confidence and correctness. You will be glad you did.

There are a number of different ways of doing this, I have listed below a list of 3 good ways you can improve you vocabulary.

1) Pay attention to new words you come across

What I do is keep a small note book and when ever I come across a new word I make a quick note of its meaning, so I can look back to it again in the future if I need to.

Although I actually find that the a actual act of writing down the word and its meaning actually helps me to remember it and so this helps me when I am speed reading because I can read straight through when I come to that word I have just learnt again in the future.

2) Use you new vocabulary

Another cool trick you can use to improve your vocabulary, is to actual use the new words as soon as possible even if the word is something that would be difficult to use, you could for example talk with someone about how you have just learnt this new word and tell them what it means and talk with them about it.

Doing this will also help you to remember the words meaning and also get you use to using it which will help you to read faster by not having to slow down when you come to that word when reading.

3) Familiarize yourself with the roots of words.

Lots of words especially in the English language have words that come from other older languages. For example there are a lot of Latin words used within English. When you actually go and see what the original word means you get a totally different meaning and understanding of what the word means and what it can be used for.

For example:

The word “month”

-12 named periods of the year
-a period of time between the same dates in successive calendar months
-a period of 28 days or four weeks

-origins
- old English
- related to moon
- Since in many early civilisations the calendar month was calculated as beginning with the new moon.

Once you understand the roots of words it makes it easier when you come across a word you don’t know to crack the language code to its meaning.

For help with learning the roots of words simply look in any dictionary. Doing this will not only tell you the meaning or meanings of the word but also if it is a good full dictionary also it will tell you what its root is and what other words shear the same root, which will make it so that in the process of learning what the word means and its root and all of the other words that also use that root, you can easily learn a list of new similar words at the same time.

The more you do this the more you will be able to take an educated guess of what a word you don’t know is, if you are aware of its root, and so not have to stop when reading to find out. And only have to stop if it is a word that is very critical you get its full understanding to get the full meaning and message that the author is trying to communicate in the text.

If you would rather take your pooch with you than leave them cooped in a kennels for the week / weekend then there a few simple steps that will make the trip as enjoyable as possible.

The most obvious one, would be to check your campsite will allow pets, those that do will often group all pet owners together so not to upset the other visitors. The beauty of owning an RV means your don’t have to limit yourself to campsites but they make life easier. Finding one that is geographically convenient and allows pets shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Before you leave for your trip, plan everything. Make sure pup has his regular food throughout the excursion (subjecting him to strange foods can be rough on his digestive system and your carpets). Just because you’re fuel tank doesn’t need you to stop yet doesn’t mean your dog feels the same. Plan regular stops so your dog can stretch his legs and relieve himself. Get your dog used to traveling before subjecting him to an eight hour drive by taking him for short journeys before hand. Get a list of the nearest vets to where you’ll be staying, hopefully it will never be needed, but in an emergency you could waste precious time finding this information.

Pet carriers or crates are the safest way for your pet to travel in an RV. They can be secured in place so the dog cannot wander about (and explore the area under the peddles), if the worst happens and you’re involved in an accident, your beloved pet will be safer in a carrier than being thrown around the cabin (or through a window). As loyal and well behaved as you think your dog is, the possibility is always there that he may wander off or get distracted. Make sure the number on the tag isn’t just your home line (unless someone is staying at your house) but your mobile too. Microchips are also a great way to ensure your lost pet will be returned to you, they cause no pain or discomfort to the animal and they cant be pulled of running through trees or washed off in the rain. If the worst comes to the worst and your pet does go missing, you’re going to need clear colour photos to assist with your search, a good quality photo that can be copied should be kept with all his vaccination and vet paper work in the RV.

Before you leave, accept the fact there might be one or two accidents on the trip. Dogs are not designed to be in constant movement and they may well get a little bit travel sick. The excitement of being somewhere new may also upset their digestive system. If you’re worried about the upholstery of your RV, you may want to limit where your pet can and cant go, and remove any expensive bedspreads or throws. Always keep plenty of kitchen roll and antibacterial spray to hand to help clean up any little accidents.

Somewhere sometime we learned to cover up our feelings of shyness, not feeling good enough, feeling under skilled, a fraud, a pile of turd… whatever was our particular damage. And to over-compensate, we learn to do the bravado thing making a show of boldness. This is actually alienating rather than relationship making… including alienation from ourselves which makes us feel living dead.

I know because that’s how I was once. I strutted around in my power suit ostensibly doing stuff and fearing I would get found out as oh so under par. Putting on the bravado overcoat was my default position too!

And, yeah, I know it takes courage and willingness to do the repairing work… but not a load of time as you might have been led to believe by traditional personal developers or therapists. Believe me, it’s ‘reclaiming work’. Confidence is part of our heritage as human beings. It’s part of our birthright.

Think you were born that way? Then tell me, how many babies or young toddlers do you come across with a confidence issue??? It’s a learned behaviour rather than innate. As such you can unlearn it and replace it with your natural confidence which is still available to you even if well buried to begin with.

We can then became far more intuitive, compassionate and effective leaders, executives and managers whatever our work arena. Less energy tied up in self-defence creates more energy for being present to the moment, the person or people with whom we work, our stakeholders, our community and ultimately our world.

#1 Use the language of appreciation in your self-talk

Similarly read books about confidence and confident people, put pictures up that remind you of confidence, have a symbol of it on your desk, read quotations about it… anything that puts confidence at the head of your agenda 24/7!

#3 Dress softer

Bet you wear harsh colours and clothes with severe lines… like my now redundant power suits. Or could be you over-compensate for your bravado hardness with bright colours and more girly styles if you’re a woman.

If you look in line with natural confidence you’ll feel good. So soften up and emulate the dress sense of someone you know who flows with natural confidence. Could be someone alive, dead or fictional. And discover how their style of clothes help you move elegantly, smoothly and in flow.

Tyres: If your bike has been sat all winter, you’ll need to check the tyres and wheels thoroughly. Check for any cracks, bulges or potential weak spots that might develop into a problem. Refer to your owners’ manual to ensure you get the correct tyre pressure. Over inflated tyres will not grip the road sufficiently but under inflated tyres wont be fuel-efficient. Lights: The days are getting longer and most of us can go to work and come home in the daylight now, but you still need to check all your lights work. Check not only the headlight but also the indicators and break lights too. Check the beam from the headlight hasn’t been knocked and that all the lights are securely mounted. Check the lenses. Look for any cracks or chips which could develop into cracks. If you notice excessive condensation, it may be a sign of a crack which will need to be addressed.

Oil and lubricants: If your bike has been sat still all winter, it may be best to give it a complete engine oil change before riding out for the first time, especially if this wasn’t done before it went into storage. Never mix old engine oil, break fluid, coolant etc with new, and make sure it’s all fresh. If possible, change the oil filters too. The particles in petrol and diesel will evaporate if left for long enough, this means that even if your left your fuel tank fuel before storing the bike away, the tank may not be full anymore. This could result in condensation forming in the tank which could lead to rust, this is easy to check and can save you a lot of money.

You: Lastly, you need to check yourself. If it’s been a few months since you last rode, make sure all your paper work and documents are up to date. Your insurance company should be notified if any of your details have changes (like your address), check your breakdown cover is still in date too. (ii) Attention Step - used to grab the attention of the audience through the use of attention grabbers e.g. a shocking statement, a funny story or joke etc

(iii) Benefit Step - a statement outlining how the speech will benefit the listeners e.g. it will make them more money, make their job easier

(iv) Preview Step - a brief outline of the speech to follow.

What is said in the introduction should be relevant to the main body of the speech and it should be brief. If the introduction is too long it can bore the audience.

2. Arranging the Body of Your Speech

The body of the speech should be arranged around main headings because this will break the speech up into manageable components. 2 - 5 main headings are the ideal numbers. If more than 5 headings are used, members of the audience will struggle to remember them all.

The main headings are best arranged in one of the ways that people commonly think about the subject of the speech. The most common patterns of thinking that people use to arrange a speech are:-

(i) Time - Divided up in the chronological order that events occurred

(ii) Location - Headings are arranged by their geographical location

(iii) Topical - arrangement by logical parts, divisions or components

(iv) Problem and Solution - the problem always precedes the solution.

Your topic will not always fit into the usual patterns. In this case the theme or central idea should be divided up into reasonable headings that support the theme. The information that you have gathered should be listed under the heading it supports. The arrangement discussed for the body of the speech applies equally to the supporting information, by the use of sub-headings.

3. Conclusion

The conclusion is important to you because this is where the audience will form a lasting impression of you. The following steps are usually found in a conclusion:

(i) Summary Step - summarize the main points of your speech

(ii) Benefit Step - it is useful to repeat this step from the introduction to remind the audience and reach the individual who may only have just started listening

(iii) Call For Action Step - this is only when an action is required from the audience. It is a last strong statement that evokes the response wanted from the audience.. Your conclusion is best when it is brief and does not introduce any new material. Otherwise you risk losing and confusing your listeners.

A well organised speech will make it easier to put your ideas across to the audience. It will be more understandable and have more impact on them. Also when delivering your presentation a well organized speech is much easier to recall.
